Welcome to the Tait Research Group website!
We are one of the physical chemistry groups at the Department of Chemistry and our research focuses on the use of Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy for the investigation of spins and spin-dependent processes in materials and devices for energy applications, currently focusing mainly on organic photovoltaics.
EPR allows the detection of unpaired electron spins and the characterisation of their dynamics and interactions with the molecular environment. Since paramagnetic states characterised by unpaired electron spins play a fundamental role in many energy conversion processes, we hope to gain an improved understanding of the underlying photophysical mechanisms.
